“Passionate, open, determined and opinionated are just a few words I would use to describe myself.

I find my greatest joy in exploring our beautiful New Zealand, learning about what makes this nation truly special; connecting with creative souls across the board as I find my own place in this crazy world - Oh and if you don’t know me, my name is Ashley! Kiwi born and raised with a blended heritage of both Indian and European, proud daughter of an immigrant.

As a qualified early childhood educator and nanny for the last ten years I’ve deeply fostered my nurturing side and cultivated a career I’m proud of; but now as 2019 begins to really get moving I’m working towards a new goal with a positive mindset and with the right self care framework to support me I have no doubt that I’ve set my dreams in motion.

BUT I wasn’t always such big believer in self care being the driving force behind all things in our lives - I mean whether it be relationships, health, fitness or even careers it all just comes home to well-being right? - up until about three years ago I had a really toxic, unhealthy relationship with my mind, body and soul; at my lowest point I was weighing in at 162 kilos, presenting with serious joint issues, depression, anxiety, anger issues and a range of other health problems looming overhead if I didn’t wake up and realise that my behaviors were a cry from inside for real help.

Taking a step back and realising this after one HELL of a wake up call was only the start; I started working towards loving myself, turning my personal affinity for helping other inwards and developing a special connection with myself that I had never had before, a way out of the darkness using my own light.

I still have bad days and my journey isn’t over but my progress makes me proud of how far I’ve come so I had a quote tattooed on my body, and it’s these words that carry me through even the darkest day.

I’m going to leave you with them today.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.”
