This two-ingredient cellulite scrub can’t get any easier. But before we go any further, I’d like to cover the following two points. 1. There isn’t a magic cure for cellulite and a simple scrub won’t eliminate the dimples. 2. Understanding what cellulite is and knowing it’s a wholesome approach in tackling the problem.
Cellulite is natural, and while mostly genetically passed down, it is caused by poor circulation and fat pockets. What we eat, how we exercise and move all have an effect. Most of us have or will get cellulite irrespective of our body shape, and unfortunately, it’s something that will never go away but can be managed.
"Cellulite is fibrous bands that go from the top of your skin to the fat layer, pulling it down," says dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara.
The dimples develop when fatty tissues under your skin press against tissues closer to the skin’s surface.
As I mentioned, there isn’t a magic cure. Going back to basics, eating well, drinking water, moving your body and body treatments like caffeine scrubs, creams and massages will all help diminish its appearance.
We see many caffeine marketed cellulite scrubs on the market, and for a good reason. Caffeine in coffee can help dilate blood vessels and reduce the appearance of skin dimples, but only temporarily. "Caffeine stimulates dilation while the scrubbing motion increases circulation, plumping up the skin and making cellulite look less obvious," Gohara. Your skin may tighten from the stimulating effects of caffeine being massaged into your skin, by improving blood flow and eliminating excess water. The massaging action also assist lymphatic drainage and stretch skin tissue to improve cellulite appearance.
Coffee is rich in antioxidants, further promoting overall healthier skin tone and skin brightness.
The natural exfoliant of the coffee grounds also removes dead skin cells and reveals a smoother surface for your skin.
Again, treatment is only temporary, few days tops. It’s recommend treating your problem area twice a week but incorporating life changes with your diet and exercise.

- 5 tablespoons of ground coffee, must be caffeinated (I recycle the Nespresso pods we use to make coffee. You could do the same or an alternative coffee ground)
- 3 tablespoons of ed&i body AFTER body oil
There is not rocket science here, simply mix the coffee grounds and the oil. You don’t want the coffee to be swimming in the oil, it just needs to be wet.
We suggest moving into the bathroom when applying, this will get messy.
Firmly rub onto problem areas using circular scrubbing motions. Continue doing this for 5 minutes then rinse and pat dry. Finish with massaging AFTER body oil back into the skin.
Try incorporating this routine 1-2 times a week.
